UG Seminar with Anthony Petyuk on Numerical Methods in String Compactification

  • 14 March 2025 2:00 AM UTC

String Theory is the best (and perhaps the only) candidate for a final theory of our universe. However, some extra work is needed to obtain models that resemble our universe from string theory. A popular choice for doing so is compactification, in which the remaining dimensions of the theory are undetectably small. In this talk I will go over what that actually means, as well as how one might try to obtain the standard model from such a procedure.
