Summer Application and Cold Email Peer Review Workshop

SPS is hosting a Summer Application and Cold Email Peer Review Workshop this Thursday, January 30, 6:30–7:30pm, in Physics 375. This is a great opportunity for anyone seeking research opportunities this semester or this summer. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring any draft materials they have (CVs, essays, emails, etc.) to exchange with peers. Some experienced SPS members will also be available to provide general guidance and advice.

Faculty Lunch: Michael Zalatel

Michael Zaletel joined the Department of Physics faculty in July 2018 and is the Thomas and Alison Schneider Chair. Zaletel’s research focuses on theoretical condensed matter physics and its intersection with quantum information and computational approaches. He aims to understand the behavior of electrons in ‘quantum’ materials where entanglement and the strong interactions between electrons conspire to form new phases of matter.
